Lil Pump – Lil Pump 2 – Album Review

Hello, everyone. If you’re new here, welcome to my website! If not, welcome back!

Do you ever see that there’s a new song/album/etc. that you’re almost positive you’re not going to like, but curiosity gets the best of you?

Yeah, that’s what happened for me here.

In 2017, Lil Pump released “Gucci Gang”, a song which ended up becoming a big hit, and is arguably among the most hated hit songs of the 2010s. Now, personally, I don’t like the song—I mean, it’s got terrible lyrics and a very annoying chorus—but I’m not going to pretend I hate it … and I don’t really know why I don’t dislike it more, but it’s FAR from the worst song I’ve ever heard.

And while I haven’t heard a ton of Lil Pump’s music, I’ve heard enough to know that my expectations for this album were extremely low. But curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to check it out.

And that’s an interesting topic … why do people listen to music that they’re almost positive they won’t like?

Well, part of it for me is that I’m a reviewer … but still, there are so many other albums I could have listened to and reviewed instead.

Well, again, curiosity got the best of me. I mean, if I ended up liking the album, that would be quite an interesting review, right?

As controversial as my music taste is, I’m not just doing whatever I can to be controversial. When I do my reviews, I’m trying to share how I honestly feel about the album. But that being said, I will admit that I often find controversial reviews more interesting than the average review.

This album has been getting a very negative reception as far as I can tell, and if I ended up liking the album, that could make this review very interesting!

And why am I writing about all this instead of the album itself?

Well, before I write about this album, I want to make it clear that all of this is just how I personally feel about this album. I mean, that’s the case for every review I do, but considering I’m going to be very harsh on this album, it feels like I should especially mention that here. And while I’m going to be very harsh, especially when it comes to the lyrics, I do understand that music is interpreted differently by different people. So, just keep in mind that none of this is intended as a personal attack on anyone, nor is it intended as some sort of ‘objective’ review of the album, whatever that means. It’s just my own personal feelings on this album.

So, how do I feel about the album?

Well … what is there for me to even say about this album? I mean, I could mention how annoying Lil Pump’s repetitive flows are, or how annoying some of these hooks are, or how fucking awful the lyrics are, with lyrics about guns, sex, drugs, etc. that, as far as I can tell, have almost nothing interesting to them aside from some lines that are super fucking awful, and there’s quite a few of them—enough that I don’t really see the point in listing them here … but I will say there are some lyrics here that have terrible messages to them. And I’m sure it’s not meant to be taken seriously, but I fucking hate the lyrics here that come across as incredibly sexist, and the lyrics that sound like an attempt to make dangerous drugs and other horrible behaviour sound ‘cool’ or something like that, and so many other fucking awful lyrics here. I’m not saying there were bad intentions here, but I still find these lyrics absolutely disgusting.

Or I could also mention the one metal song on this album … no, I’m not kidding. Lil Pump made a metal song. And it’s the worst song I’ve heard all year, not only because the production is some of my least favourite of the year so far, but also Lil Pump’s yelling on the track sounds so fucking annoying, and the lyrics are fucking garbage in my opinion. I mean, there’s that line where he says, ‘I fuck on your bitch with her tampon on,’ and there’s also all these lyrics about putting a gun to someone’s head, crashing cars, and slitting wrists … and it sounds like it’s supposed to come across as ‘cool’. No, I don’t think that was the intent, but that’s how the song sounds. And it’s fucking disgusting.

But what’s the point of me saying anything more about this album? I mean, there are a few interesting synths and the occasional flow that I like, but aside from that, this is some of the worst music I’ve heard in the past few years. As always, it’s just how I personally feel, but I never want to hear this ever again … extremely light 1/10, and I think it’s the worst album I’ve reviewed on my website. If you haven’t heard this album, I highly recommend that you don’t. Curiosity got the best of me, but I hope that doesn’t happen to you, because in my opinion, this album FUCKING SUCKS.
